By emitting a light beam slowly, the Lyra Nd:YAG Laser allows time for the light to become attracted by the melanin in the hair while at the same time giving the skin a chance to cool off, preventing any damage to the skin from occurring. The pigment colour in the hair converts the light beam to heat, which then destroys the targeted hair follicles. Hair that is in its active growth cycle can be targeted.
