1. A number of “different” invitations are sent to the sophomores prior to orientation informing the students of the orientation and strongly encouraging them to attend the event. A “Connect-Ed” call is made by program’s Coordinators the week of the event to encourage the student to attend. 2. Link Teams – All sophomores are divided into Link “crews” of 8-10 students. Each crew is assigned a pair of Link Leaders who will serve as leaders, friends, and possibly mentors during the school year. 3. Link Phone Call – Link leaders phone each of their sophomores to extend a personal invitation a day before orientation. 4. R-H Link Orientation – Orientation for sophomore crews is run in separate classrooms by the Link Leaders. The focus of the activities is: a) getting to know other students, c) team-building, and c) learning strategies for being successful in their school. 5.
