How does the lens adapter affect the viewfinder, AF emitter, and flash?

Because the A610/620/630/640 has an optical viewfinder, there will inevitably be some blockage by the adapter. The AF emitter, though slightly obscured by the adapter, seems to be unaffected. The adapter will cause a flash shadow in one corner at the wide zoom setting. See sample above.
