How does the KIV-21 insure packet integrity?
The KIV-21 calculates a 24-bit CRC checksum over the protected packet prior toencryption using Data Integrity Verification Service (DIVS).The encrypted part of the SP3-D header can be longer in the case of the KIV-21, shouldthe user exercise the option of specifying a nonzero padding range. The option inserts arandomly variable number of padding bytes, up to a specified limit, into the encryptedportion of the SP3-D header.
