How Does the Keops Audio Board Supports AES/EBU Audio?

0

Problem: How is it possible to support AES/EBU digital audio signals since the Keops Audio Card provides only a RCA connector for S/PDIF Input and Output. Cause: AES/EBU equipment use a balanced XLR connectors and a 110 Ohms digital audio cable. S/PDIF uses an un-balanced 75 Ohms video cable and a RCA connector. AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital audio signals are compatible with each other, differing only in channel status frame subcode information and connector. The AES/EBU format subcode contains ASCII strings for source and destination identification, whereas the S/PDIF commercial format carries the SCMS information (protection code for music CD). Solution: To be able to support AES/EBU quipment with the Keops Audio Card, you need to use an impedance transformer (110 Ohms to 75 ohms) for the Keops SPDIF input and use an impedance transformer (75 Ohms to 110 Ohms) for the KEOPS S/PDIF output. This kind of impedance transformer will allow longer cable run and the use of a video cable instead
