The JSE interacts with customers regularly and in many different ways. There is an advisory committee for each of the secondary markets which the JSE operates. The JSE invites users to recommend professionals to be represented on these formally mandated committees that are chaired by the JSE executive responsible for the relevant JSE division. These committees are used as the primary forum in which to debate developments. It is unlikely that the JSE would ever go against the advice of a committee, even though it is only an advisory committee. There have over time been some major issues that the JSE has referred to the various advisory committees such as direct market access, where there was no consensus and the topic was debated at length in the trading advisory committee before making recommendations to the JSE executive.
