How does The Jackson Laboratory share its data and discoveries with others?
The Jackson Laboratory freely shares its research discoveries through scientific publications, symposia, collaborations with other scientists, and its own courses and conferences. It makes the mouse models of human disease developed by its own scientists and by those of other institutions available to the world research community and, using its pioneering research services, conducts research for those who prefer to outsource their data collection. This allows the research community to receive the full benefit of the Laboratory’s research and to build on that research. The majority of its work is publicly funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is required to be in the public domain.
