How does the IP Claim process work?
Heres how the IP Claim process works: IP Claim Submission: During this phase, holders of Trademarks, or their agents, file information about their Trademarks through Melbourne IT. The .biz domain name in which the Trademark owner is claiming intellectual property rights must be identical to the alphanumeric string contained in the mark. Melbourne IT will submit the claims to the .biz registry. The .biz registry will then assemble these Trademark claims into an IP Claim Database that it will later use during the domain name application phase (Phase 2) of the launch. Domain Name Application: During this phase, Melbourne IT will accept .biz domain name registration applications. The registry will compare the domain name applications with the IP Claim Database. For each match between an application and a Trademark Claim Form, the .biz registry will notify the applicant that a third party, or parties, has submitted a claim for the exact string requested.
