How does the ionosphere affect the life of the average person?
The ionosphere is an ionized region in the upper atmosphere, that is to say it is electrically active. As a result it can, among other interesting effects, reflect radio waves, electrically charge up spacecraft, and perturb the earth’s magnetic field. This means that disturbances in the ionosphere can cause noise and even disrupt radio signals which are reflected off of and transmitted through it.
