How does the interview process work?
All applications to join one of our courses are made through UCAS. They send us a copy of the form which you and your referee filled in and from reading that we decide if we would like to interview you. If you are an overseas student it is generally impractical for us to interview you but you are encouraged to find as much out as possible about UCL and our courses and to come and visit us if you are able. As well as changing the courses for 2006 we are also changing the interview process. We are planning to hold 4 – 5 workshops at UCL to which we will invite those who we would like to meet. The workshop will give a flavour of the kinds of problems studied in our programmes.

For home students who we wish to interview we endeavour to invite you to visit us at UCL as quickly as possible. The interviews are informal and take around 20 minutes. The rest of your visit is spent chatting with current undergraduates, trying your hand at a few simple engineering problems and having tours around our department. We also encourage you to investigate the area around UCL and how it relates to central London. In short we want you to enjoy the visit and for it to be a valuable chance for you to decide whether UCL is right for you.

There are generally two rounds of interviews. Typically, in the first round you will interview with the recruiter and hiring manager. In the second round of interviews you are likely to meet with more senior or extended members of the team you may be joining. Prior to the interview, you will be contacted through the email address you used to create your profile and asked to answer additional questions. Upon entering into the second round of interviews you will be contacted at the email address used to create your profile and asked to answer additional job specific questions.
