How does the institution assess the need for information technology training for students and personnel?
Some technology training is included in HCC degree and certificate requirement. See Standard 2, Student Learning Programs. This answer attempts to address technology resources available to the general HCC community. Workshops for students are conducted in the student open computing lab. The classes focus on getting students started with performing common basic functions in the lab previously requested by their instructors. Introductory classes are scheduled at the beginning of each semester. Topics include basic word processing, using email and the Internet. Additional workshops are conducted in response to usage patterns observed in the lab as well as input provided by students. Workshops for personnel are coordinated through the Faculty and Staff development committees. Input is solicited from employees and classes are scheduled based on feedback.
