Peabody’s reclamation activities are driven by the company’s mission statement, which says quite simply that when mining is complete, the land will be returned to a condition that is equal to or better than before mining. This mission is turned into reality through an environmental committee headed by the company’s president, and the actions of a staff of corporate and field environmental experts.
