How does the IB diploma differ from the UKs current educational system?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme is a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognised by the world’s leading universities. Students study six subjects, usually three at higher level and three at standard level. They choose one subject from each of the following five groups: best language, additional language, individuals and societies (such as geography and history), experimental sciences (such as biology and chemistry) and mathematics (including computer science). The sixth subject may be chosen from a group of art subjects (music, theatre, visual arts), or the student may choose another subject from groups one to five.
