How does the HIV testing and counseling work?
The Wellness Center uses the OraSure HIV test, a quick non-invasive oral swab of the cheek. The process includes a pre-test counseling session and a post-test follow-up with Peer Counselors who have been certified by the Orange County Department of Health. They will help you evaluate your risk, develop a plan for staying healthy and answer any questions you may have in a relaxed setting. Your Counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, and both appointments can be scheduled by calling 407.823.5841. Q: Can I get my HIV test results over the phone? A: No. It is actually against the law to provide this highly confidential information over the phone. You must come back to get your results. You are able to schedule your post-test appointment immediately following your pre-test appointment.
