How does the Healthy Foundations topper pad compare to the overlays made by Tempur-Pedic ®?
The initial difference that most people notice is that Healthy Foundations toppers pads, as well as the pads without a cover, are a fraction of the cost of the more expensive memory foam overlays made by Tempur-Pedic ®. There is some reason for the price difference in the thickness and density of the pads. The memory foam pads made by Tempur-Pedic ® are an inch thicker (3″ vs. 2″) and a bit denser (a cubic foot of the memory foam material made by the Tempur-Pedic ®, that is a cube of this foam, one foot on each side, weighs about 5.35 pounds, while a cubic foot of our memory foam weighs about 4 pounds). Note: ordinary foam pads often weigh from 1/2 to 1 pound per cubic foot, making these visco-elastic foams a truly different class of foam products. I should say that some stores do carry a thinner Tempur-Pedic ® pad, but I use their 3″ pad for comparison because this is the thickness they use in their mattress.
