How does the HAF filter work?

0

The HAF filter (High Air Flow) was developed by 3M specifically for use with Air Manager. As particles move through the CCFT field they become electro statically charged. As they exit the field into the HAF filter the static charge makes the particles to cling to the walls of the filter effectively trapping them. A HAF filter removes all particulate matter from the atmosphere down to 0.01 microns which is extremely minute when you consider that a molecule of tobacco smoke for example is about 10 microns wide. The HAF filter is constructed out of extruded plastic and closely resembles a collection of microscopic drinking straws bundled together in a sheet about half an inch thick. The air flows easily through the tubes without restriction; unlike more conventional HEPA filters which consist of a dense mat of woven fibres that typically trap particles down to only 0.3 microns.
