How does the geocentric and heliocentric model explain the path of the sun through the background of stars?
The geocentric model did a very poor job of explaining the motions of of planets in particular. The sun makes a fairly consistent path through the constellations of stars. It wasn’t until the discovery of idea that the sun was the center and the other planets revolved around it that they were able to make sense out of the paths of planets.
