How does the GasSaver compare to solar-thermal?
The GasSaver saves energy when you most need those savings – in the winter. We believe that solar hot-water systems suffer from 2 main disadvantages: • They only generate significant heat in the summer. Hot water consumption tends to be larger in the winter which is when the GasSaver is most effective. • Most solar systems require the use of a large hot-water cylinder. These large cylinders have higher losses associated with them – your boiler will have to burn gas simply to keep the cylinder warm. In the winter, the large cylinder needs to be heated by the gas boiler and this will generally out-weigh any savings that may have been made during the all too short English summer.
