How does the garbage disposal work in Maine?
Look at the bottom of the handle, it is a piece of white plastic in the shape of a “T.” One end of the “T” has a black dot in it, about 1⁄2 inch in diameter; that black dot is a magnet. Look in the throat of the disposal, there are two bumps in the throat (on the side nearest the living room). The black dot of the T must be placed between those two bumps. Run water while activating the disposal. Note: it can be temperamental; if it doesn’t work the first time, take a deep breath and try again. You must have the appropriate karma.
