A. – The G3 has a simple purpose; – to apply treating on the seed passing through it as accurately and uniformly as possible. This maximizes the potential benefit from the treatment. The field treating benefit is reduced by the amount of seed that doesn’t get properly treated. Auger based drippers or spray nozzles initially contact less than 50 % of the seed. Unless special mixing fixtures are added, augers aren’t great blenders. Augered grain tends to flow with little turbulence, so mixing is usually less than 10 %. This means that you have 100 % of the treatment on less than 50 % of the seed. Some is under treated; some is over-treated; 30 % probably has no treating at all.
