How does the fire panel interface work?
The system can receive text notification from a fire alarm panel through a serial printer output on the fire panel connected to the central monitoring station PC. The fire panel must have an RS232 output. The fire panel printer text is scanned by the SmartCare monitoring software for certain keywords (i.e. alarm), identified in advance, to indicate an emergency situation. The alarm text is displayed on the monitoring station PC screen and transmitted to the pager or Spectralink telephone; however it is not stored in the database for later retrieval.
