How does the Femto-Second laser work?
The laser pulses do not act on the surface of the cornea, but in an exact, previously determined depth in the interior of the cornea. Each laser pulse creates a mini-gas bubble which separates the tissue. Thousands of laser pulses, next to each other row by row, allow three-dimensional highly accurate laser cuts in the interior of the cornea. The possible uses in cornea surgery are therefore manifold and not only limited to LASIK.
