How does the FCAT fit into school improvement in Florida?
Accountability for student learning is the key focus of Floridas system of school improvement. Results from the statewide assessment program are the basis of Floridas system of school improvement and accountability. Student achievement data from the FCAT are used to report educational status and annual progress for individual students, schools, districts, and the State. Florida’s school grades are currently based on the percent of students meeting high standards and the percent of students who make learning gains.
