How does the FBI differ from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms?
The FBI is the primary law enforcement agency for the U.S. Government, charged with enforcement of over 200 categories of federal laws. The DEA is a single-mission agency charged with enforcement of drug laws. The ATF is the agency whose primary investigative responsibility is enforcement of federal firearms statutes and the investigation of arsons and bombings that are not in furtherance of terrorism.
