How does the ETS (Traction Control) work?

The traction control system is actually quite simple. Using the ABS sensors, the car will detect wheelspin on the front wheels. It does this by comparing the wheel speed at all 4 corners. If it detects slippage, the computer will retard the timing to take away power to the wheels. It does not apply the brakes to stop or slow wheelspin. When the ETS or ABS system is being put to use, the “Low Trac” light will come on.
