How does the East African Development Bank work with COMESA?
The EADB facilitates trade in member states on trade and investment project programmes. PTA Bank of COMESA offers similar support in the wider region. The three EAC partner states are shareholders in the bank. The two banks therefore supplement each other in supporting projects in this region. As an arm of the community, the bank is also involved in the financing projects such as roads and railways projects. The East African Development Bank is funding the merging of Kenyan and Ugandan railway systems and there is talk of further plans to join this to Tanzania’s railway system. Please can you elaborate on this – how far has this plan developed and when do you expect to reach completion?
