How does the Doctoral Program help in placement?
Announcements of positions across the country are received and posted by the program office. The program director and department chairs often respond to inquiries by recommending particular students. Officials from regional colleges attend an annual session to explain their criteria in recruiting to our students. Placement in nationally ranked colleges and universities, on the other hand, depends on efforts by the student and their adviser to make the quality of the students work widely known. We encourage our students to attend national meetings to present their work and to attend the doctoral consortia organized by professional associations, which give students pointers on making their way in the academic job market. Our faculty also make personal efforts to make their students work known.
