How does the district identify to the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Special Education costs eligible for State Special Education Categorical Aid?
The Special Education Report Program (PI 1505-SE) is used by districts to produce a data file identifying special education expenditures. This program was provided to districts on a CD-ROM in July 1999 and should be presently installed on a district computer. If the program has been deleted, it will have to be reinstalled. In using the program, reference should be made to the Special Education User Guide, July 1999, “User Guide” that was provided with the PI 1505-SE Program. As explained in the User Guide, page 5, “Overview”, The PI 1505-SE program is used to create both “Annual Report” and “Budget Report” data files. Refer to page 10 of the Guide as to how to start the program, refer to page 12 as to how to enter data. The Annual Report data file identifying actual incurred costs for a fiscal year is required to be filed in September following the June 30 fiscal year end.
