On 29 July 2010 a Disability Employment Forum was held in Melbourne. The Forum engaged employers and other stakeholders involved in the employment of people with disability to identify best practice strategies and propose actions that can be taken by businesses and government. At the Forum, the former Minister for Employment Participation, Mark Arbib, announced that $1 million from the Innovation Fund will be available to fund Innovation Fund projects that provide support to employers to employ and retain people with disability in open and integrated workplaces, where people with disability are not the majority of the employees.
