How does the digital divide affect the global economy ?
The digital divide is the situation in the world that some people have access to new media technology (internet, digital television etc etc) and some do not. Although it’s not always about money (older people may have the money but not the education for example), the economic effect is essentially that those in poor countries (known as either the Third World or the Global South) PRODUCE the technology (computer chips for example) and those in the rich countries CONSUME it. I think it’s more that the global economy affects the digital divide rather than the other way around.
