Kokanee fry taken from Lake Pend Oreille and reared at Cabinet Gorge Hatchery are released back into Lake Pend Oreille. When Cabinet Gorge Hatchery is not at full capacity (about 17 million fry), an agreement with Avista allows rearing of other fish, including kokanee from sources other than Lake Pend Oreille.
