How does the debit card work?
When you incur an eligible expense at a qualified provider (such as an office visit copay or a prescription at a pharmacy), you can pay with your debit card instead of paying from your wallet now and waiting for reimbursement later. You can use the debit card at merchants and health care providers that accept MasterCard® and are providers of qualified medical services. Use it for expenses such as office visit copays, hospital deductibles, prescription copays, and other services that may be eligible under your health plan. It’s important to remember that the payment must be for eligible products or services that are reimbursable under your course.
When your support payment is received, the money is deposited into your cards account. You can use your debit card everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. This includes grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants. You can also use your debit card to buy things over the phone and over the Internet. To get cash, you can use your debit card at ATMs or at any bank that accepts Visa. Some stores will let you get cash back when you buy items. It works like a MasterCard®, with the value of your account contribution stored on it. When you have eligible expenses at a business that accepts MasterCard® debit cards, you simply use the Card. The amount of the eligible purchases will be deducted – automatically – from your account and the pre-tax dollars will be electronically transferred to the provider/merchant for immediate payment. Is the Debit Card just like other MasterCard® Cards? No. The Debit Card is a special-purpose MasterCard® that can be used only for eligible health care expenses. It cannot be used, for instance, at gas stations or restaurants. There are no monthly bills and no interest. Do I need a new Debit Card each year? As long you elect to participate each year, the Debit Card will be loaded with your new annual election amount at the start of each plan year. What if the Debit Card is lost or stolen?
