How does the curriculum cater to the Asian/Asian American students at Dartmouth?
Within the prospectus of courses, there are Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic language classes that are rigorous and highly praised. In addition, for a small additional fee, students can take Korean, Urdu, and Hindi in extra-curricular miniversity classes. For more information, visit the DAMELL Department website. Dartmouth also offers a wide variety of cultural cources including Asian American History, Chinese Folk Religion, and Post Colonial South Asian Literature. While the college does not have an Asian American Studies program, students and administrators are working together to expand the number of courses being offered. A faculty search committee has been appointed to look into implementing Asian American studies as a field of studies at Dartmouth.
