How does the current income tax and the MI FairTax compare?
Michigan’s current flat income tax and the MI FairTax are both flat-rate taxes and both are made progressive (higher effective tax rate as income/spending increases) by a personal exemption and prebate respectively. The income tax, however, is complicated, costly to administer and comply with and, it is invasive to our privacy.
