How does the covenant renewal system work over time?
A person who has previously entered the Eucharist Apprenticeship Covenant has the opportunity to reaffirm this continued intention each time a new individual enters the covenant (which is always done in a simple public “candle ceremony”). At a minimum, the covenant should be reaffirmed once a year in order for the covenant to be considered active in our community. Important clarifications: Stepping Out of Covenant… A person who enters the covenant can at any time choose to step out of the covenant if he or she feels compelled to do so. There simply needs to be a conversation with the other covenant partners and the leadership of Eucharist. Additionally, someone who has not renewed his or her covenant within a year is automatically considered inactive and thus outside of the apprenticeship covenant.
