How does the cost to the student compare to the student cost under the former KSU program?
During the 18-year duration of Nebraskas agreement with KSU, Nebraska paid a rate greater than the differential between KSUs resident and non-resident tuition rate. The student contract rate began as a function of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) rate with periodic negotiations. As years progressed, the rate became ever closer to the resident/non-resident differential. While comparing to the former contract is an important consideration, what is more important is how the cost of the collaborative program will compare to the future cost at KSU or any other college of veterinary medicine. Under both the ISU and the KSU proposals, the Nebraska student pays resident tuition rate. Both proposals included plans to increase tuition rates in the future. Eventually, both rates become almost the same. The following table compares the resident tuition rates for this year with proposed increases through FY 2010.
