How does the cost of proton therapy compare to conventional therapies?
Like many emerging cancer therapies, proton therapy is expected to initially cost more than traditional forms of radiation or other cancer-care alternatives but in many cases it will cost less. The added benefit of proton therapy lies in the long-term cost savings associated with managing treatment side effects and related morbidity including hospitalization associated with alternative cancer care options.
