How Does the Computrace Loss Tracking Service Work?

0

This year for the first time CCDS will use the Computrace loss tracking service from Absolute Software. Computrace is now a component of Toshiba’s SystemGuard warranty, and so is provided with all new Portege M780 tablet PCs purchased this year. Computrace provides for a service guarantee such that Absolute Software pays the owner $1,000 for any tablet PC lost and not recovered in the first year after purchase. The payment decreases by $200 per year thereafter, or $800 in the second year of service, $600 in the third year, and $400 in the fourth year. The cost of the Computrace service for four years is included in the price of the M780 tablet PC bundle. We will also be providing Computrace service for Portege M750 and M700 tablets purchased previously. For these tablets there will be a separate charge to students’ bookstore bills. For three years of Computrace service for a Portege M750, the one-time charge will be $41. For two years of service for an M700, the charge will be $31. M40
