How does the Companion System support more portables than channels?
The same principles of traffic engineering for PBX/key system trunks apply to radio channels. Ordinarily, all Portables are not in use at the same time nor at the same place. Also, the System reuses frequencies. Its ability to reuse frequencies means that the same channel may be used for conversations taking place on two different floors because the cells are separated by enough distance to prevent interference.
