How does the cold war, israeli conflict, apartheid etc. impact society today?
This is a HUGE subject area and not all the “pieces” are as related as you were obviously told! (who is your teacher, anyway? As a former social studies teacher, I’d never assign anything as broad and with as many interconnecting and also NON-connecting threads as this! As for the Cold War: The “fall of the Soviet Union” impacts society today in at least one negative way; an influx of criminal types, escaping more poverty. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been raging for decades. Today, it affects our politics, of all things, in which candidates who court different segments of the U.S. population, must TRY to look sympathetic to Israel (our only real “base” in the Middle East) while appeasing the friends (the Palestinians) of the countries who sell us oil. It’s very UN-idealistic! The Chinese “cultural revolution” has taken a weird turn, shifting toward capitalism, and now, the Chinese consume more natural resources (almost) than we do. They DO consume more coal, both domestically
