How does the Club for Growth PAC select candidates to endorse?
The Club for Growth takes a rigorous approach to researching candidates for our members who have access to Club for Growth PAC recommendations. We thoroughly examine a candidate’s record on economic growth issues and conduct an in-depth interview. We research news coverage of the candidate and examine his background for possible flaws that could affect his candidacy. We determine, often with our own polling, whether the candidate has a real shot at winning. How does this race and candidate compare to the other races around the nation? Our due diligence on behalf of Club for Growth members can take weeks or even months. Candidates should respect our independence as our PAC often makes Independent Expenditures. These are defined by the FEC as follows: “An independent expenditure is an expenditure for a communication ‘expressly advocating the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate that is not made in cooperation, consultation, or concert with, or at the request or suggestion
