How does the Clinicians Health Channel relate to existing hospital libraries?
The development of the Clinicians Health Channel web site has been based on the principle that the site is more than an online library. It is a clinical information repository of up-to-date evidence-based material at the point of care. There is a strong clinical focus incorporating everything from best practice reviews, drug and medication databases and online electronic journal content. The Clinicians Health Channel web site aims to provide equity of access to important clinical information to support decision-making to all clinicians in the State. As there are approximately 40 hospital libraries in Victoria, the Clinicians Health Channel provides greater access to clinicians where library resources are not available. Another point of differentiation is that access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to every health professional in Victoria from the convenience of their workplace or home to the complete collection of resources.
