How does the City of Ottawa Zoning By-law (2008-250) impact parking requirements?
The City of Ottawa Zoning By-law includes a variety of parking rate reductions throughout the City, and takes special notice of the burden that providing parking presents to certain uses in Traditional Mainstreet Zones. For any use in the Traditional Mainstreet Zone, other than a restaurant on Elgin Street and on Preston Street (between Wellington Street and Carling Avenue), parking is not required for any use that has a gross floor area of less than 150 m2 and is located on the ground floor of a building (Table 101, (a)(ii)). This could mean a significant reduction in the amount of parking to be provided in the Traditional Mainstreet zone.
