How does the Cambridge CELTA Course Online work?
Candidates will pay a course fee to the centre as they currently do. For each candidate, the CELTA centre will buy access to the Cambridge VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) on which the course is hosted. For each course there is an Online Course Tutor (OCT) and Teaching Practice Tutor(s) (TPT). The OCT could be based at the centre or could be recruited. Centres pay tutors as they do now i.e. they may have permanent tutors at the centre or they may recruit tutors. All teaching practice takes place face-to-face at the local centre. The TPT(s) and the OCT work in close co-operation; this is a key feature of CELTA courses which will be preserved. The OCT will have input into practice and the face-to-face TPT will feed in theory in lesson planning support and TP feedback ensuring a tight fit between theory and practice.
