How does the Calpine Calgary Energy Centre benefit Humanity?
Calgary, Canada in the Winter Calgary, Canada, close to the United States border, is a large city whose population is over a million. Until March 31, 2003, all of their power came from coal-fired power plants. March 31, 2003 marks the day that the the city had a cleaner energy resource, for on this day the Calpine Calgary Energy Centre started commercially producing energy for the Alberta area. This power plant benefits the inhabitants of Alberta because it is clean burning, quiet, and highly efficient. This means that smoke and noise, an assumed byproduct of coal power plants, are heavily decreased even though there is a power plant in the area. This creates a pleasant environment for visitors and those who work at the power plant. Combined cycle technology used in conjunction with Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology assures that the emissions from this power plant are low, well below the governments limits. This benefits humanity by offering society a way to use fossil fuels wit
