Okay well in England, some schools have Nursery’s, which is pretty much like American preschool, except we already have a preschool, which start’s from the age of roughly two, it’s called playgroup. Nursery starts at 3, and in some schools, this is when the children come into school with their school uniform and do small bits of work. After Nursery and preschool the school years go like this (compared to the American school years: Reception (Age 4-5) School in England starts a year earlier than school in America. Year 1 (Age 5-6) The equivalent of Kindergarten Year 2 (Age 6-7) The equivalent of 1st grade Year 3 (Age 7-8) The equivalent of 2nd grade This is where children begin Junior school, they will probably be in the same school as before, but they get moved to a differant section of the school.
