How does the BBC Wildlife Fund raise money?
In 2007, the first year of the Fund, the BBC’s Saving Planet Earth season of TV programmes included a fundraising event which passed donations to the BBC Wildlife Fund. The money raised through that event came from public donations – online, by telephone, by post or over the counter at banks. The BBC Wildlife Fund also receives donations raised from other BBC wildlife related events. If you pay UK income tax, the BBC Wildlife Fund can reclaim the tax you have already paid on money you donate, making every £1 worth £1.28 to the charity. All you normally have to do if you are a taxpayer is say “yes” to Gift Aid. BBC Wildlife Fund has also received royalties from the sale of a book which accompanied the BBC Saving Planet Earth series.
