A. Banner of the lady does not negate a rank bonus, it simply eliminates the combat bonus for those ranks (bret book page 63 – ‘no combat bonus for ranks’. The unit with the griffon banner counts its rank bonus as 6 but doesn’t add that 6 to the units resolution score.
