How does the Backup Approver know that he/she is responsible for approving my leave request?
Two ways: (1) When the Supervisor sets up a Backup Approver, there’s an option in Profiler to send an email to that person informing him/her of the delegation of signing authority. The email includes the window of dates the delegation is effective for, and the reason for the delegation if any was provided. (2) The Backup Approver will also receive email notifications when a leave request has been submitted and his/her approval is required.
