How does the AutoAuditorium Audio Mixing subsystem work?
The Audio Mixing is designed to serve two very different audiences: • The local audience, in the same room as the person presenting the talk. For them the room’s sound system provides most of the audio assistance. • The remote audiences watching the program via broadcast or recording. They need to hear the same sound picked up by the room’s sound system, but they also want to hear the questions from members of the local audience. To serve the local audience, the AutoAuditorium enhances the stage sound system by placing microphones over the stage area. These microphones automatically select the strongest signal and put them into the room’s sound system. If the speaker is wearing a wireless microphone, that is usually the strongest sound source. But if the wireless microphone is turned off, goes dead, is not desirable for some reason, or cannot be found, then the overhead microphones will provide adequate pickup so the audiences can hear the person on stage.
